Yehoshafat Harkabi (z“l) was Professor of International Relations and Middle East Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he also served as Director of the Leonard Davis Institute of International Relations. A former Chief of Israeli Military Intelligence, he combined practical experience with academic expertise in Arab politics, Islamic civilization, and the Arab–Israeli conflict. Renowned for his command of Arabic and deep knowledge of the region, he was a leading authority on strategy, intelligence, and regional security. Harkabi also held academic appointments abroad, including at Princeton University and the Brookings Institution, and played a major role in shaping the study of international relations in Israel.
